Sherry Huang

Program Fellow, Cyber Initiative and Special Projects

Sherry Huang is the Program Fellow for the Cyber Initiative and Special Projects at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. In her work with the Cyber Initiative, she supports efforts to build a more robust cybersecurity field and improve policy-making, with a particular focus on supporting the initiative’s efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the sector. She also manages the foundation’s portfolio of Special Projects grants, a pool of flexible funds that allow the foundation to respond to unanticipated opportunities, explore potential initiatives, collaborate with other funders, and facilitate collaborative work across the foundation’s programs.

Prior to joining the foundation, Sherry conducted research for Fortune 500 companies and governments as a cyber threat intelligence analyst for Recorded Future’s Insikt Group. In that role, her responsibilities included tracking nation-state cyber activity, combating disinformation, helping secure the 2020 U.S. presidential elections, and offering cyber policy analysis for the company’s clients. Earlier in her career, she worked for Google in Hong Kong and Australia, supporting small- and medium-sized businesses and marketing agencies with online advertising.

A native of Taiwan, Sherry holds a bachelor’s degree in international business from National Taiwan University and a master’s degree in foreign service from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service.
