Organizational Effectiveness

Foundations rely on strong, healthy grantee organizations to achieving progress in solving the world’s most pressing problems. Yet, many U.S. and international grantees routinely face organizational challenges, from major staff transitions to capacity gaps.
Organizational effectiveness grants provide targeted support to existing Hewlett Foundation grantees to help strengthen their internal systems, enabling them to do their work better and enhance their impact. These grants are a small slice of the foundation’s overall giving, but they help organizations’ leaders prioritize, justify and support capacity-building projects that otherwise likely would go to the wayside.
